    • Why Geriatric Neuropsychological Assessment?

Neuropsychological Assessment has become an essential part of the diagnostic criteria put forth by the National Institute on Aging, the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as the American Academy of Neurology, to diagnose memory disorders and dementias. It is a tool that your physician can use to assist them with your care.

    • More sensitivity and specificity than brief in-office screening measures, which have a high false-negative rate (missing a diagnosis that is really there).

    • Differentiates normal aging from an underlying neurocognitive disorder.

    • Sensitive to diagnose the early stages of a memory disorder.

    • Sensitive in helping differentiate “Pseudo-dementia” syndromes from true neurodegenerative conditions.
